Procedure

This certificate is issued by the general directorate of civil defence. Below-mentioned is the procedure:

Eligible for companies/establishments/individuals who seek to get the safety approval must make an application with the general directorate of civil defence of the Ministry of Interior (MOI).

You must approach the general directorate of civil defence, where you will be issued with a commercial license approval form to fill and submit. The application form can be obtained from the MOI website.

  • Ensure that you fill in all the details correctly and print the completed application form. The information you will need to include is:

    • The building or premises plan

    • Copy of establishment card

    • Copy of commercial license

    • Copy of the license holders’ identification

    • Copy of building ownership or tenancy contract

    • Maintenance contract for fire and early warning systems

  • Once the information is filled and submitted, the general department of civil defence officers will look through the application and decide if everything is in order.

  • The general department of civil defence will run inspections at the premises to determine if the safety protocols have been adhered to. They will also check to see if the fire safety equipment is up to standard.

  • If everything checks out, a certificate of approval from the civil defence officers will be issued to the applicant.

  • After the payment process is completed, the applicant must collect the certificate from the civil defence department offices.

  • The entire procedure takes approximately a week to complete.


Fees

  • The approval fees will be issued by the officers of the general directorate of the civil defence.


Validity

  • The validity of the certificate is for the registration period only.
